§ 5‑1. Office abolished; Assessor to be appointed.
Pursuant to § 328 of the Real Property Tax Law, the office of elected Assessor's is hereby abolished and there shall be one (1) assessor to be appointed as provided in § 310 of the Real Property Tax Law.
§ 5‑2. Referendum.
Pursuant to §§ 23 and 24 of the Municipal Home Rule Law, the adoption of this chapter is subject to permissive referendum, within forty‑five (45) days of notice of such adoption.2
§ 5‑3. Term of office.
A. The term of office for the appointed assessor shall be six (6) years commencing on the first day of January 1996

and ending September 30, 2001. Each six‑year term thereafter shall commence on October 1.
B. Upon approval of this chapter, the terms of office of all elected assessors now in office shall terminate the 31st day of December, 1995.
